About MOA

The Mississippi Optometric Association is dedicated to promoting the eye health and vision care of all Mississippians. MOA is a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization, and our membership includes more than 250 optometrists from across the state. Doctors of optometry are not just the primary health care providers for your eye and vision care, they are also trained and trusted guardians of your general health and well-being. Optometrists have extensive, ongoing training to examine, diagnose, treat and manage disorders, diseases, and injuries of the eyes. 85 percent of comprehensive exams are conducted by optometrists (2013, AOA), which connect vision with ocular health, as well as detect other health conditions such as diabetes and neurological problems.

Who We Are

We are Mississippi's family eye doctors – serving as the primary protector of Mississippi's eye health. Every year, Mississippi optometrists help thousands of people live happier lives through healthier eyes.

Our Mission

The Mississippi Optometric Association’s mission is to enhance, protect, and promote the profession of optometry in Mississippi through advocacy, education, and advancing technology for patient eye care. Our 240-plus-member optometrists believe in providing impeccable vision and health care for all Mississippians.

Our Vision

We are proud to be the most trusted resource for eye care in Mississippi.

InfantSEE®

We are proud to be an affiliate of the American Optometric Association and to be enrolled as InfantSEE® providers.

Infant vision development is key to a child’s overall development and a happy, healthy life. InfantSEE is a partnership with the AOA and The Vision Care Institute of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. The program is designed to make sure that eye and vision care become part of routine infant wellness care in the United States.

Under this program, MOA member optometrists offer a free first eye assessment for infants within the child’s first year of life.
